Ever worked with someone so inspiring you want to emulate their every move? For me, that was Bea. Her project leadership wasn’t just effective—it was transformative. Bea exuded confidence and trust in her team, creating momentum and achieving success beyond expectations.
Why Did It Work? The secret was simple: Bea instilled a belief that every challenge was solvable, and we were the right people to tackle it. The fun was in figuring out how.
In my new role, I’ve faced doubts. But remembering Bea’s approach, I remind myself: everything can be worked out. It’s not always easy, but that inner voice now says, “You’ve done this before, you can do it again.”
This week, I’ve looked for insight on where people draw their confidence from and what we can look to emulate in those moments of doubt.
Heard: Shameless: Zara’s 30 Life Lessons at 30
Shameless is the podcast for smart people who love dumb stuff. Hosted by Zara and Michelle, they dive into pop culture from Hollywood Stars to TikTok drama.
In a special episode, Zara shares her 30 life lessons. One stood out to me: “There is a reason so many athletes set PBs at the Olympics; you will be OK on the big stage with the right preparation.” Ground yourself in your prep. It’s not arrogance, it’s your armour.
So Wat? action: Got something big coming up? Dedicate time to both content preparation and delivery. For example a presentation:
Learn from others - talk to a colleague who’s great on stage
Fake it to you make it - practice with a safe audience for feedback
Instead of feeding nerves about what could go wrong, feed the energy of getting it right.
Watched: Hamilton’s comeback at Silverstone
Remember when Hamilton lost the World Championship two years ago? It felt like an injustice. But his comeback at Silverstone was legendary. Despite struggles, he proved his resilience, securing the win and showing his true capabilities. In his words; “Most importantly we didn’t lose hope. We didn’t give up. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU KEEP GOING.”
Off track, Hamilton’s drive for inclusion and being a role model is what truly inspires. His persistence during tough times demonstrates his strength and confidence.
So Wat? action: Each week, write down what you’ve achieved so when you face uncertainty, you’ve got a record of how far you’ve come. Use your achievements as the fuel to propel you forward and build your confidence.
Wore: Lululemon Align Pants
When I was made redundant, I needed structure and community. Enter: Reformer Pilates. And with it, new leggings. Lululemon Align Pants were a splurge but worth it. They fit perfectly, have pockets, and build confidence—essential for those challenging Pilates sessions.
So Wat? action: Dress the part to get in the zone when trying something new. Treat yourself for that extra boost.
Stay tuned for more insights, tips & inspiration.
